What you propose should be the standard model but the Democrats today consider it ancient history as they have become subservient to the money agenda prioritized by Clinton’s Democratic leadership council in the 1990s. Maybe Trump‘s actions will force a serious reconsideration.
Great piece, Marcus! I agree 100% with your conclusion that the working class identity needs to come to the forefront if we want change.
A friend recently reminded me that all politics are local. This presents unique challenges when the opposing system—corporations and their ultra-wealthy leadership—is national and global in nature.
So I’ve been thinking about action plans lately, and the role of civil disobedience. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this idea:

My late husband, Eugene McDaniels aka The Left Rev McD, wrote about divide and conquer strategy and a lot more in his 1970/71 Outlaw and Headless Heroes of the Apocalypse albums.
“Jews and the Arabs,
Semitic pawns in the master game
The player who controls the board
Sees them all as the same
Basically cannon fodder
Left wing and right wing
Political pawns in the master game
The player who controls the board
Sees them all as the same
Basically cannon fodder
Nobody knows who the enemy is
Cause he never goes in hiding
He's slitting our throats
Right in front of our eyes,
While we pull the casket he's riding
Better get it together,
Better get it together,
And see what's happening
To you and you and you
N*gg*s and Crackers
Racial pawns in the master game
The player who controls the board sees them all as the same,
basically cannon fodder
Industry and War Machine,
These are the kings in the master game
The player who controls the board
And the Kings are the same
We are the cannon fodder.
Nobody knows who the enemy is
Cause he never goes in hiding
He's slitting our throats
Right in front of our eyes,
While we pull the casket he's riding
Better get it together,
Better get it together,
And see what's happening
To you and you and you”

I love this. This is where D need to go! Back to where they were at one time when society was more economically fair. But forward to where that economic freedom applies to everyone.
I would couple this with a strong emphasis on the rule of law. We do not tolerate theft on the street nor in the board room. We are clear that crime hurts everyone. Give ppl a way out of poverty through an actually fair economic system but don't accept excuses for breaking the law at any level. That would mostly reign in the true white collar criminals pillaging society while selling the whole thing to ppl who have been convinced that street crime is the biggest threat they face.
And giving it back to the states… where We, the people live! There will be discomfort for a while, but we have a unique opportunity to grab the reigns and build it back from the ground up!

I’m betting on it.
Marcus, VERY WELL SAID! Thank you, Mark

What we need is non-ideological patriotism now. We the people are watching the dismantling of our federal government.
